Avoiding Homework.... As Usual
Well,I am avoiding my math homework. If there is anything I cannot wrap my mind around, it is a mathematical concept. (I swear, abstract ideas slip through my mind like sand through a sieve....) I hate math for the same reason many people enjoy it: because in math, there is only one "right answer." I always feel like the chances of my stumbling upon that "right answer" are so minute and random as to be hardly worth the effort and frustration. However, if the truth be told, I am pretty fed up with school in general. I know I should be grateful to have the opportunity to finish my education, but I am so sick and tired of talking about teaching, thinking about teaching, learning about teaching, etc. Add that to the fact that there are absolutely no jobs available in Michigan, AND I always feel like the biggest weirdo/outcast in all my education classes. (I have been asked on more than one occasion if I am an art major.) I would really like to get a Master's in Library Science, another field where there are no jobs. Or maybe I will just work at the mall for the rest of my days! Oh, but let's not even get into how the mall freaks me out. Some days, I will walk through on my lunch break and just marvel at all the overfed, well dressed Americans hogging more than their share of the world's resources and spending money on things they have no need for. On a completely unrelated note, my sister Little M comes home tomorrow. She will be staying for a couple of weeks and I can't wait! She lives in LA with my other sister and I only see the two of them a few times a year! We will be doing lots of thrifting, as my sister searches for vintage wares to peddle on eBay. ( May the thrift gods please send me a pair of cowboy boots...) No doubt we will also venture to fabulous downtown Farmington to remember the good old days.
