and living in fabulous Ann Arbor, MI.
Let me update you, intrepid readers...... Mr. Lolly and I moved out here in August, after he got a job in the Cancer Center at U-M. I finshed my student teaching here in AA, then graduated from WSU w/ my elementary ed degree in Dec. I currently work as a barista (how I hate that word) at a fair trade, organic coffeehouse (those of you who are familar w/ A-squared won't have a hard time figuring out which one.) I am pretty much over the whole teaching thing and have now set my sights on an LIS degree at a certain prestigious university in this town. Currently, I find myself w/ quite a bit of extra time on my hands so I decided to start updating this blog.
How do I like Ann Arbor, you ask? Well, I love it!!!!! At first I was like, eh- not quite the liberal paradise I was dreaming of. But I now realize that this was bc the only people I was interacting with on a daily basis were 9 and 10 year olds. This town is definitely different from anywhere else I have lived. I can see where some people find it pretentious and annoying, but I feel very comfortable. I love being able to walk everywhere (including to work!) and I love the huge, beautiful YMCA that we get to work out at. We live in a cute duplex on a wooded street, with a creek running through our back yard. The people I work with are super nice, and we hang out w/ Mr.Lolly's stepbrother and his wife quite a bit. In fact, we are going there for dinner tonight.
So what else is going on? Well, I am deep in preparations for Ohioconvert's bridal shower (stay tuned for colorful tales of uncomfortable family interactions.) I have become a fairly proficient knitter, although I finally had to give up on the baby sweater I was knitting for our niece because the child was going to be in college by the time I finished it. I just returned from a fabulous visit with one of my favorite cousins from my dad's side of the family. (I purchased several new additions for my LeSportsac collection on this trip, at a bargain, naturally.) Of course, there are my librarian dreams- I am visiting the school in a couple of weeks. I have to start studying for the GRE pretty soon. Oh, and and I am over the whole motherhood thing for the time being. I am not ruling it out, just putting it on hold for the forseeable future.
