Actually, I believe that the song goes "Alone again, naturally...." but oh well, never mind. Hey, I just had a fabulous idea, perhaps from now on I will title all my posts with quotations from songs...
Anyway, I turned the big 3-0 last Saturday. Can you believe it? Over the hill but still rolling, heh. Believe it or not, I am happy about turning thirty. Why, you ask? Because....I am still young and foxy, not old and crusty! And skinnier now than when I was 25! Speaking of 25, I do believe that I have been on an upward trend since about age 25 or 26- around the time I returned to college. (That's right, my early 20s were actually rather shitt-ay.) So, I am looking forward to finding out what the next decade will bring.
For my birthday, Mr. Lolly bestowed a Dell MP3 upon me. I have been frothing at the mouth for a an MP3 for some time now, dreaming about the doors it would open for me, how I would finally be able to indulge my passion for embarrassing rap songs, ala Nelly and Snoop Dogg.... The MP3 came with a free one month subscription to Crapster. I immediately downloaded every OutKast album, as well as a bunch of old favorites like The Cure, New Order, and The Clash. Perusing the eight million tracks on offer, I was struck by how many really obscure bands were available for downloading. All of a sudden I was struck with a wave of nostalgia for the days when one actually had to HUNT for cool music. I had to go find Mr. Lolly and engage him in a conversation about whether or not high school is different now that teenage misfits can no longer measure each other's coolness by the obscurity of their musical taste, since there is no longer (in my opinion) such a thing as musical obscurity! Not trying to be all elitist, just reflecting on how the internet has changed life for music snobs everywhere. By the same token, I cannot count the number of conversations I have had with friends around my age about how much more fun high school would have been with the internet, not to mention cell phones.
